Most pharma ads use the same recipe, stock footage of “person running on beach”, “person swimming in ocean”, “person having picnic on beach”, “person dancing on beach”, pairing them with “uplifting, hopeful, happy” music, and throwing a voiceover on it. So when Lorde, known for her dark and depressed vibe, came out with such a bright and uplifting song and a music video fit for the second half of an anti-depressant ad, this parody was bound to happen.
